Moonscape

Real name: Daniil Alexandrov.

In 1998 Daniil installed one simple program called "Dance Machine" on his computer. After playing for a while with factory-made loops, he realized that music composing should become the general pursuit of his life, even though he didn't (and probably still doesn't) understand anything about music theory.

He worked together with multiinstrumentalist Andrey Dubrovsky until 2000, making jungle under the name Subway Fashion. All work was made in Sonic Foundry Acid. Although the idea of composing music in a sequencer wasn't that felicitous, they managed to record plenty of material. Then he began to work alone and changed his artistic name to Moonscape. In 2002 he moved to Rio de Janeiro and a year later, after performing a couple of times in St. Petersburg, to Washington. However, these global shifts didn't influence in any way his music engagement.

Moonscape's style is difficult to describe. Daniil himself claims that he is trying to find a boundary between experimental music and easy listening/lounge/downtempo, since this area still has a lot of space for the search of new ideas. He becomes angry when someone refers his music as IDM.
